Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia 2110 CC 1969

General description : LOTS INVESTED, 2110 CC, 150 HP, 4 SPD, PWR DISCS, FRESH SUSP, WIDE BODY, FUN!

We probably don't have to tell you there's something special about this 1969 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. The bold paint, extra wide fenders, and racing wheels give it an aggressive attitude that's backed up by an enlarged performance-built VW motor. Best of all, there's only about 3,000 miles on this exceptional value of a custom build.
This is a cool take on graceful European styling, with added bold American flair. The dark metallic blue is the perfect way to introduce this Karmann Ghia to the world. The color is just a shade before midnight, which helps with the sinister attitude. It has the luster of a modern clearcoat, so it's the perfect gateway to custom body pieces such as the push bumpers, painted grille, and the fully integrated widebody kit. That last piece really upps the aggression. Starting in the front with a lower air dam that flows into the flared front fenders and onto the doorline, the body gets wider to help integrate the enlarged rear end that hold tires large enough to be a drag racer. And speaking of competition, the Centerline wheels really tell the world this VW means business.
The custom gray interior provides comfortable cloth bucket seats for two. The original basic gauges are gone, replaced by a full VDO package that gives you a much more comprehensive look at the mechanicals than the factory stuff. The center of the steering wheel has VW's Wolfsburg crest, but the upgraded sports wheel helps telegraph the front suspension's activities directly into your fingertips. There's even a Hurst shifter with line-lock for the best in performance. So while this one has a AM/FM/CD stereo, you really know the best soundtrack is coming from the protruding exhaust.
While this coupe has been very unique so far, the best standout feature is in the engine bay. The owner claims that's the original VW block, but as you can see, plenty has been invested in giving it a show-stopping shine, and very importantly, a ton more power. It's not just the dual carbs and other performance components that makes this one the hottest VW you can gets your hands on. We all know there's no replacement for displacement, so the four-cylinder has been bored out to 2110cc. The full package makes around an unbelievable 150 hp, which gives the lightweight coupe some serious performance. Add that to chrome headers and a bold exhaust, the result is the look and sound of an outlaw. But this custom KG is far from the unruly experience that its skull and crossbones VW logo may suggest. It has new inner and outer bushings, upper and lower ball joints, and new bearings, which make for a very solid feel on the road. Add in front disc brakes and the grip of Goodyear Eagle tires all around, and this is one outlaw that you can easily keep in-line.
Beautifully built, this car is about impossible to duplicate for the price. If you're a VW fan looking for something a little outside of the ordinary, this Karmann Ghia is one hot ticket. Don't miss it, call today!!

About Volkswagen
The Volkswagen story is indeed an intriguing tale of innovation, resilience, and post-war revival, marked by various models that have become iconic in automotive history.

The People's Car (Volkswagen): Initially envisioned by Adolf Hitler in the 1930s as a "people's car" or "Volkswagen" in German, the idea was to create an affordable and practical vehicle for the German people. This concept led to the development of the Volkswagen Beetle (or the Type 1), designed by Ferdinand Porsche.
Post-War Challenges: After World War II, Volkswagen faced significant challenges. The factory was heavily damaged, and the brand's association with the Nazi regime led to a lack of interest in the car in some regions.
British Intervention - The British Army & Ivan Hirst: The British Army took control of the factory in the immediate post-war period. Major Ivan Hirst, a British Army officer, played a crucial role in reviving Volkswagen. He recognized the potential of the Beetle and advocated for its production, convincing the British military to order several thousand cars. This decision helped jumpstart the brand's revival.
Export Success and the Beetle's Global Appeal: The Beetle gained popularity not only in Germany but also globally, becoming an icon of affordable motoring. Its simple, reliable design and unique appearance made it a favorite among consumers worldwide.
Model Evolution: Over the years, Volkswagen introduced various models alongside the Beetle, each contributing to the brand's growth:
Type 2 (VW Bus or Transporter): Introduced in the 1950s, it became an iconic symbol of the hippie movement in the 1960s, loved for its spaciousness and versatility.
Golf (Rabbit in the U.S.): Launched in the mid-1970s, the Golf (or Rabbit in the U.S.) marked a shift towards front-wheel-drive, modern design, and hatchback practicality, becoming a cornerstone of the brand's success.
Passat, Jetta, and Other Models: Volkswagen expanded its lineup with models like the Passat and Jetta, catering to different market segments.
Challenges and Innovations: Despite success, Volkswagen faced challenges, including quality issues in the 1970s. However, the brand continued to innovate and develop new models and technologies.
Rise of the GTI and Global Expansion: The 1980s saw the rise of the iconic Golf GTI, a high-performance version that sparked the hot hatch trend. Volkswagen also expanded its global presence during this period.
The British intervention in reviving Volkswagen after World War II played a pivotal role in the brand's resurgence. While there might have been some tensions or competition among automotive companies in the 1950s and 1960s due to Volkswagen's post-war success, the brand's ability to produce innovative and popular models solidified its place in automotive history.
