Allgemeine Beschreibung :
1948 Bentley Mark VI Shooting Brake.
Chassis number: B41CD
Registration number: JLX932
Guns available by separate negotiation.
An unusual Bentley Mark VI converted to shooting brake/estate car specification. This project was undertaken by a renowned retired Bentley engineer in Scotland. The body was taken off the chassis & the chassis then thoroughly gone through. Likewise new sections were let in to the body & much steelwork replaced prior to the body being reunited with the chassis in its current form.
The body has had a bare metal respray in Tudor grey & thus presents very very well. The rear estate door folds upwards revealing a cavernous storage area for luggage, guns fishing impedimenta, or whatever other country pursuits one may imagine. The bottom portion of the rear folds downwards making a useful platform for picnics etc.
On the mechanical side, the sump was removed from the engine and the side-cover from the gearbox, the internals of both were inspected & fount to be well within tolerances & in good condition. The braking system, including servo, was fully overhauled with new linings, hydraulic hoses and pipes, master and wheel cylinder seals, etc. New kingpins and bushes were fitted to the front suspension. Both the starter motor and dynamo were stripped and rebuilt.
The interior woodwork has been re-varnished, and the leather upholstery refurbished by Gliptone leather Care. Derby Plating re-chromed the brightwork & new tyres have also been fitted. The interior leather is grey & in good patinated condition, piped in Blue. Carpets are recent & headlining new with wooden rub strakes fitted to the roof area either side of the rectangular roof window. The front seat backs contain fold out walnut picnic tables.
The car drives beautifully with a powerful silent engine which pulls strongly in all gears.
