A 1964 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova wagon is the perfect candidate for performance customization. With iconic paint, a powerful stroker V8, and a healthy growl, this one has left its family hauler days in the rear view mirror.
Turning grocery-getters into go-fast machines is an art. The best way erase the suburban blues is by painting it Chevy's iconic Hugger Orange. After all, it instantly makes you think of muscle cars like the Camaro... and so does the custom cowl hood. Plus, the Nova's angular style is arguably the best-looking wagon of the mid-60s, and it has a stance that's perfect for an aggressive update. And while there are some great chrome bumpers, this one also has a very nice dark side. The blacked-out grille, custom black rear trim, and dark tinted window package give this some added aggression. The shine and intimidation come together perfectly on the Weld racing wheels with an ultra-wide set in the back – exactly where the power meets the ground.
Inside this one has been upgraded for comfort with fresh door panels, a taut headliner, and cloth bucket seats borrowed from a later-model GM car. Plus, the rear seats were upgraded, too, to give this a nice uniform feeling. There are even provisions for an AM/FM/CD stereo. But this updated wagon is far from a coddler. You'll slip behind the Grant sports steering wheel, and your right hand will instantly be attracted to the Hurst Quarter Stick shifter (connrectd to a strong TH350 three-speed automatic.) As you look across the dash, you'll spot toggle switches for components and a full auxiliary gauge trio. Plus, that huge Equus tach with shift light prominently mounted in the center lets you know there's something wicked under the hood.
This motor is equal parts shine and toughness. That's why the bold block paint, welded aluminum valve covers, polished pulleys, large intake, and tall air topper all radiate from within the dark engine bay. And more than just look powerful, this is a 383 cubic-inch stroker V8 with all the go-fast goodies you demand. It includes a large Holley four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock hi-rise intake, Holley aluminum heads, and a large aluminum radiator w/electric fan to keep it all running cool. Plus, we know you love the way those Hooker headers have a custom bend out of the inner fenders like a gasser. Not only do they add even more power, but they also contribute to the thunderous sound of the dual exhaust. And as you follow those pipes in the undercarriage photos, you're going to see plenty of reinforcements for all this power, as well as great upgrades like front disc brakes and adjustable traction bars.
