De Tomaso Automobili SpA wurde von der aus Argentinien stammende Alejandro de Tomaso in Modena Italien, gegründet 1959 Ursprünglich verschiedenen Prototypen und Rennwagen, darunter ein Formel Eins Auto für Frank Williams-Team im Jahr 1970 produzierten sie.De Tomaso produziert drei klassischen Sportwagen
Vallelunga ein Mittelmotor-Sportwagen mit Aluminium-Chassis und 104-Backbone PS (78 kW) Ford Kent Motor und erreicht eine Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 215 km / h. Nur 53 wurden insgesamt hergestellt.
Mangusta, im Jahr 1966 eingeführt wurde die erste De Tomaso in großer Zahl produziert. Das Auto hatte einen amerikanischen Ford 4,7-Liter-Eisen-Block-V8-Motor und Stahl und Aluminium Coupé Karosserie von Ghia. Mangustas rund 400 wurden vor der Produktion im Jahr 1971 endete gebaut.
Berühmtesten (und zahlreiche) Pantera Modelle De Tomaso ist im Jahr 1971 mit einem 351 Cleveland Ford V8 und einem niedrigen, keilförmige Körper durch Ghia Tom Tjaarda entworfen erschienen ist. Panteras wurden insgesamt 6.128 produziert.
