Miss the days of a full-sized body-on-frame, rear-drive sedan? MotoeXotica Classic Cars can help. We are pleased to offer this 1999 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor.
This cruiser, which still has its police badging and logos, has slightly more than 133,000 actual miles. Its siren, light bar and other emergency lights still work, as does its laptop computer, P/A system and dash camera! It also retains its heavy-duty suspension cage.
Dressed in a Vibrant White exterior, the paint and trim are in good condition, as are the car’s windows, which are clear and intact. The front headlights show some patina, to be expected from the conditions this car has endured during its service life. The other lights are in overall good condition. The car rolls on Dayton Daytona R tires, sized 225/60ZR16, wrapping black steel wheels with chrome center caps. The cruiser’s body panels are sold and straight. The bumpers are in good order, the engine bay is very tidy and the battery appears new.
Under the hood is a 4.6L Modular SOHC V-8 engine mated to a 4RW70 four-speed automatic transmission with a 3.55 rear end. The car also has power four-wheel disc brakes. Safety equipment includes dual front, second-generation airbags and active seat belts. The car’s light bar, other emergency lights, siren and laptop computer all still work and it retains its heavy-duty suspension cage. Besides the power brakes, driver convenience features include air-conditioning, power steering, power mirrors, power windows and power locks.
Inside, the car’s Dark Denim Blue interior is overall good shape but the driver’s bucket seatback has a rip. The front buckets are done in cloth; the rear bench is upholstered in vinyl. There is no carpet; instead the cruiser has a black, rubberized covering on the floor. The headliner is in decent condition, the instrument panel, original two-spoke steering wheel; inner door panels and mirror glass are all in fine shape. The center console is very good shape and the shift lever is in good order. Completing the interior is an electronic AM/FM Police radio.
The Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (colloquially referred to simply as the CVPI, P71 or ‘”Crown Vic”‘) is a four-door body on frame sedan that was manufactured by Ford from 1992 1/2 to 2011. It is the law enforcement version of the Ford Crown Victoria. From 1997 and into the early 2010s, the Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor was the most widely used automobile in law enforcement operations in the United States and Canada. They were also used for this purpose on a more limited scale in other countries.
1999 introduced the “Crown Victoria Police Interceptor” name, with a badge on the trunk lid replacing the 1998 “Crown Victoria” badge. A chrome-trimmed gloss black rear fascia, unpainted door handle trim, black bumper strips, and a gloss black slatted grille were also introduced at this time. Finally, the new “Street Appearance Package”, intended to make the Police Interceptor look like a Standard (P73) model, including chrome trimming and badging, was introduced.
Midway through 1999, the taillights were also changed. 1998 and early 1999 models had a separate amber turn signal along the bottom edge of each taillight housing. Starting in mid-1999, the extra bulbs were eliminated and the turn signals returned to the combination of stop/turn setup with red lenses found in many North American cars. Although the lenses changed, the housings did not; they still had the chambers for the separate turn signals that early models had. These chambers were now empty, leaving a perfect place to install in police cars strobe tubes that would not affect brake or turn signal visibility. Non-Police Interceptors and Police Interceptors equipped with the “Street Appearance Package” retained the amber turn signal.
This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows
