This 1965 Ford Falcon is the perfect mix of original '60s style with a healthy dose of V8 hot rod appeal. Best of all, this growling street machine is being offered for a very nice price.
The market for Falcons is heating up. They are that perfect machine to combine vintage style, lightweight body, and a setup that's ready-made for V8 power – and this one takes all those elements and turns it up a notch. There's a toughness that comes from matte black. It looks like it absorbs the sunlight, and so it's no surprise it also looks like it inhales lesser classics on the road. But look a little closer. The superior panel fit also gives this brute a very crisp appearance, like a finely pressed suit. Plus, this one didn't go for the complete blackout treatment. Instead it left plenty of brightwork to standout against the paint. This includes the wraparound bumpers, full-width grille, hood ornament, and an upgrade to iconic Cragar SS wheels
Inside are more great upgrades. It starts with swapping out the vinyl bench seat for comfortable high-back cloth buckets up front. They even took the time to get the rear seat and door panels to match, too. Plus, you have all the right modern cruising tunes with the AM/FM/CD stereo. But really, this is much more than a coddler. You know that the moment you slip behind the three-spoke sports steering wheel and spot the upgraded gauges, including the large AutoMeter Autogauge tach. And as your right hand grabs the B&M ratchet-action shifter, you get the tingle that there is something special under the hood.
One look at the engine bay, and you know there's plenty of power to back up the matte black image of this Falcon. These second-generation cars topped out at 289 cubic-inches from the factory, but this one was given a larger 302ci V8. It looks terrific under the hood with the Edelbrock valve covers, bold blue block, and upgraded pulleys with serpentine belt. And more than just appearances, you have performance upgrades like an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and mild cam to make this most out of this 302. It fires up with confidence as the stainless dual exhaust gives a nice growl. Plus, it has the right features for the road, like a stout C6 three-speed automatic transmission, front disc brakes, front sway bar, and traction bars in the rear.
