This 1957 Ford Thunderbird has great colors, two tops, and proper V8 power. It's all part of a total package that was carefully crafted and invested to make sure you have a true head-turning vintage cruiser.
The 1957 T-bird had the sleekest look of the first generation, and so the sporty red paint just seems fitting. And it's a quality application that upholds the premium image you demand from Ford's personal luxury cruiser. Plus, there's nice panel alignment so you can close the doors with confidence; the fender skirts that follow the contour of the body; and great lines that give you crisp jet-inspired tailfins. A snug-fitting white folding roof looks great with the whitewall tires, and there's even more appeal with the white removable hardtop with iconic porthole windows. And the complete brightwork package means you get to see the details you love, like the artful front bumper, hood scoop, turbine-style wheel covers, and the exhaust still exits neatly through the rear bumper.
Both the white folding top and white hardtop give this the same kind of instant appeal as a Coca-Cola bottle, but for a true red-blooded all-American, you can drive with no top at all. And while the full red package has an unmistakable color appeal, it's full attraction also has to do with the quality. The seats, carpeting, headliner, and dash are all looking excellent. Plus, it's great to see the special door panels with embossed Thunderbird logo looking so crisp. More of the sporty style is seen inside with the machine-turned panel that flows across the dash and onto the doors. Plus, the 1957 was the only one to get the upgraded full round gauge panel featuring the working tach and large speedometer. The full presentation is quite vintage, but they did cleanly add a knob-style AM/FM/cassette digital tuner so that this vintage cruise can have more modern driving music.
Since you have a bold red car, it's great to lift the hood and see a bold red block. The engine bay not only has a tidy look that's ready to show off, but also it has nice details, like the Thunderbird valve covers and correct polished air grabber. This is Ford's 292 cubic-inch V8 topped with a four-barrel carburetor. That's proper blue oval power, and the way it fires up with gusto signals it has been treat with proper respect. Though the 292 runs and drives great, it is believed by the current owner that is is actually a 312 spec engine based on the previous history and restoration shop that restored the car 10+ years ago (292 and 312 blocks appear the same from the outside.) This same sense of good care comes from the ultra-clean undercarriage photos. The car drives with confidence, and the power steering and three-speed automatic transmissions keep it an easy cruiser.
