GAZ (Rus. Горьковский автомобильный завод, ГАЗ, Gorkovski avtomobilnyi zavod), Gorky Automobilwerk begann mit der Produktion in der kleinen Gudok Oktjabrja- Werkstatt, Montage des Ford AA Lastwagen Auto im Jahr 1929 kurz mit Henry Fords Erleichterung gelang es ihnen, die eigentliche GAZ-Werk in errichten die Stadt, die wurde Gorki auf der Dichter Maxim Gorki umbenannt. Die werkseigene Produktions bestand zunächst Ford lizenzierte Produkte, Ford Ford AA und A.Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg begannen sie recht schnell die Produktion von GAZ M-20 "Pobeda" eine neue, moderne Pkw und den legendären GAZ-51 Lkw, von GAZ-66 gefolgt.
