Maserati Khamsin 4.9 H5 1977

Allgemeine Beschreibung : Where does one start when describing this wonderful Maserati Khamsin (Tipo AM120)? The car was supplied from new in the USA in 1977 and is one of only 430 Maserati Khamsin's produced. The car has recently been restored and finds itself in the best of health. Since work was completed in 2015 the car has only been used sparingly as well as having enjoyed perfect maintenance. The bodywork was fully taken back to bare metal and repaired where necessary, leaving us with a top-quality specimen. The body is totally unmarked with lovely thin and correctly aligned panelwork. The “Oro Kelso” paintwork was freshly applied and remains equally unblemished. The car has the correct wheels with new tyres. The rear not only shows off its characteristic glass panel but also sports a great handmade stainless steel exhaust. Whilst originally an American supplied car, in 2004 it was expertly transformed to “Euro Specs” by Marc Sonnery, one of the previous owners. Sonnery also started the Khamsin register and author of the excellent book” Maserati, the Citroën years 1968-1975”. The “Euro Spec” transformation was also superbly recorded in this register. The car then finally made it way to the Netherlands. The interior, clad in lovely supple beige leather, is in the best of conditions. The instruments and controls are not only in good shape but all work as they should. Furthermore, the interior has a period-correct Blaupunkt radio, having been fitted by the dealer when originally supplied in 1977. The mechanicals were fully overhauled in 2014 and 2015 and are in perfect working order. The 4.9 V8 engine develops 320 PS and runs fantastically. The engine is situated so far back that it actually has a mid-engine configuration. The engine is the very same one the Khamsin left the factory with, back in 1977, making this not only a matching colours vehicle but also a matching numbers Maserati Khamsin. The engine drives a precise manual ZF 5-speed gearbox. Thanks to diligent maintenance and overhaul the suspension and brakes are more than equal to their tasks. Although the previous owner was quite happy with his Khamsin, he did see some room for improvement. He commissioned the German Maserati specialist Peschl to dot the I’s and cross the T’s before putting the car up for sale. It will come as no surprise this Maserati Khamsin is in excellent shape. To top it all the wonderful amount of documentation complements the car’s fantastic exterior, interior and mechanicals. There is a large document file containing a complete car wallet as well as invoices dating back to 2007. Furthermore a number of technical manuals, diagrams and prints are present. In short, this beautifully finished and wonderful Maserati Khamsin is in peak condition. Gallery Aaldering is Europe’s leading Classic Cars specialist since 1975!

Akt 1: Die Roaring Twenties
