This 1965 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 tribute convertible offers exactly what you want. As a convertible, this is the top-level Cutlass. Oldsmobile made less than 12,700 droptop Cutlass examples. The intermediate Olds was already a great-looking car, and the 442 package added a touch of aggression to its straight-laced style. It was the perfect way for the boss to think you're sensible, but on the weekends, everyone knew not to mess with the wild child. It's especially seen in this one with an upgraded silver paint package. There was $7,500 spent on the respray alone during the full restoration in 2007, and there has been all the right care since. So you have a sophisticated tone that also loves to radiate in the sunshine. This straight sheetmetal body shines as brightly as the complete brightwork on the chrome bumpers, 442 side trim, and upgraded Cragar SS wheels.
While the black convertible top looks awesome against the silver paint, with the flip of a switch, it powers down to reveal an even more impressive interior. After all, red interiors are the perfect way to showcase performance and sophistication all in the first glance: and that's what the Olds 442 was all about. In fact, the red pinstripe on the outside and redline tires make this a well-coordinated package inside and out. This car is built all-around the driver, that's why you have bucket seats, a center console, and even provisions for power windows. You'll love the grip of the wood-rimmed three-spoke sports steering wheel. Plus, the large tach added to the steering column goes great with the Hurst shifter.
The engine bay looks clean, tidy, and absolutely mean. The first "4" in the 4-4-2 designation for 1965 meant 400 cubic-inches, but this one does it better. It has a period-correct 425ci V8 (it's the motor we all wish Olds could have provided.) And it has been enhanced further with Edelbrock Performer aluminum heads, a Holley four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake, and headers feeding the sweet-sounding dual exhaust. Plus, there are the right supporting components, like an MSD ignition and an aluminum radiator w/electric fan. The Muncie four-speed manual transmission means you have full control over the power and its rumbling soundtrack. Because this Olds is both a performer and a cruiser, you have nice driving features, like power steering, power brakes, and sway bars front & rear.
