Citroen DS 21 Cabriolet Original Factory Chapron convertible! 1968

Allmän beskrivning : We have an original Citroën DS 21 Chapron convertible. We wondered how it came to be that someone in Sweden bought such a car? Picture the scene: He is having breakfast with his wife in a small Parisian cafe. It is 1967. His wife asks him something, but he has not heard her. His mind is completely elsewhere. Yesterday he had wandered carefree over the Paris Motor Show with his wife and everything appeared to be just fine. Today, however, everything has changed; he is in love! He spotted her yesterday at the Citroën stand and it was love at first sight! “Darling”? He is back in the Parisian cafe and is staring into his wife’s puzzled eyes. “What’s up darling”? “You seem to be so distracted”. At that moment he can no longer keep his thoughts to himself and decides to share his new love with lovely wife. Finally he opens his mouth and the words “Darling I am in love” pour out. A large smile appears across his wife’s face as she knows exactly what he means. “It’s that Citroën DS 21 convertible isn’t it” she says? He nods in agreement. “But first why don’t we enjoy the rest of our holiday, we shall call Rickard when we get back home”. He knew she would understand. He is such a lucky fellow to have her. The car will be a gift to the love of his life. The former story is probably how and why, in 1968, Susanne Bonnier from Sweden came to own a lovely Citroën DS 21 S convertible. She kept the car until 1971, since when it has had three further owners in Sweden. We still have the transfer document form Bonnier to the second owner. Unfortunately, since the early 90’s, the DS has stood still, just being beautiful in a showroom in a small Swedish town. It was there in 2019 that we were able to liberate her. A glamorous car like a Citroën DS 21 convertible deserves a good life and not to be static in some backwater. When the DS was supplied in 1968 it had extensive Dinitrol treatment to protect it from the harsh Swedish winters. This treatment together with garaging have kept this car as solid as a rock. The fine bodywork is undamaged and has correct shut lines. Considering her age, her paintwork is still quite neat. The hood is also neat, shuts properly with just little signs of use and. The black leather interior trim is in a good state with a lovely patina. Mechanically the car is very sound. The engine has recently been serviced, all important parts were checked and if necessary replaced. The extensive and very complicated hydraulic system has also been completely checked and serviced. In a nutshell; a very rare opportunity to get your hands on a proper, low mileage, Citroën DS 21 Chapron convertible. The Chapron certificate has been requested and should be with us imminently.
