The blockbuster movie "Back To The Future" released on 3rd July 1985 was a film written by Robert Zemekis and Bob Gale, directed by Robert Zemekis and starring Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd. The film rapidly became the highest grossing film of 1985, went on to become a trilogy and won many awards including an academy award.
The most memorable star of the trilogy however remains the time machine built by Dr Emmett Brown based on a DeLorean DMC-12 car.
As a replica it has working circuit boards, lights, the famous 'flux capacitor' and even a functional smoke machine. Having a private "Back To The Future" UK registration, the car is also complete with the JVC camcorder the Doc used to document his first time travel. The camcorder case having signatures from Robert Zemekis, Bob Gale, Christopher Lloyd and Michael J Fox. There are also many behind the scenes stills from the movie, a signed movie script and other props from the film.
Production of the DeLorean DMC-12 officially began in 1981 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and the first DeLorean DMC-12 rolled off the production line on the 21st of January of that year. Instantly recognisable by its distinctive brushed stainless steel body work and large gull wing doors, It became widely known and iconic for its appearance. The development had the aid of Colin Chapman, founder of Lotus, and styling by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Ital Design and is panelled in brushed SS304 stainless steel. The stainless-steel panels are fixed to a fibre glass under body. The under body is affixed to a steel double-Y frame chassis, derived from the Lotus Esprit platform. The engine is a Renault 2.85 litre V6, which produces about 130 BHP. The DMC-12 has power-assisted disc brakes on all wheels and in DeLorean's comparison literature it was noted that the DMC-12 could achieve 0–60 miles per hour in 8.8 seconds.
This DeLorean DMC-12 replicates a piece of movie history, is the missing piece to any enthusiasts collection or alternatively offers a real business opportunity for corporate, comic con rentals, etc.

DeLorean Motor Company hade svårt att återhämta sig från ryktesskadan, och 1983 ansökte de om konkurs. DMC-12, företagets lysande stjärna, skulle aldrig nå sin fulla potential. Produktionen avstannade, och de osålda bilarna samlade damm i lagerlokaler.
