Ferrari Mondial 3.4 Litre V8 1989

Allmän beskrivning : 1989 Ferrari Mondial t Convertible
VIN: ZFFFK33A7K0081963
Rosso Corsa with Tan Leather Interior

Introduced in 1980 as a capable yet practical addition to the Ferrari line, the Mondial featured a transversely mounted 3.0 liter carbureted V8 engine also used in the 308. Like the 308, the Mondial continually evolved adopting new technology including fuel injection, four valve cylinder heads, and eventually an increase in displacement to 3.2 liters. The styling was freshened as well, with integrated color-coded bumpers and an attractive front fascia. When the 348 was introduced, the Mondial was significantly upgraded as well, featuring the 348’s 3.4 liter 300hp V8, now longitudinally mounted. The interior was freshened as well, and the new model became the Mondial t. These last of this line of cars represent significant mechanical and functional improvements over earlier examples, including ABS.

This particular car is a beautifully maintained, 18,000 mile car that has always been in the Western United States. Sold new in June of 1990 by Steve Harris Imports, Utah’s main Ferrari dealer, the original window sticker (copy included with the car) displays a purchase price of $97,000. After a three-year ownership period in Utah, with less than 5,000 miles logged, the car was sold to its next custodian, a resident of Lake Oswego, Oregon. This owner retained the car for some 18 years, servicing and maintaining it throughout ownership. In April 2011, Ron Tonkin Gran Turismo, Portland, Oregon’s authorized Ferrari dealership, performed a full 30,000 mile engine out, belt service with 15,591 miles on the car. The current owner purchased the car in 2013 adding roughly 2,000 miles, with the current mileage showing 18,004. A minor service has been recently performed, and the car was awarded 1st Place at the 2016 Chico Concours d’Elegance.

Today, this Mondial t remains beautifully prepared and meticulously presented in every respect. There are virtually no significant flaws to report on the interior or exterior, with the exception of a few very minor chips on the front of the car that have been carefully touched up and are only visible when viewing up close. The dash cover is beautiful, as is the canvas top, and the original boot cover, though now starting to become a bit tight in fit, still remains very nice cosmetically. The driver’s seat bolster, a common wear point on average mileage cars, is in excellent, and nearly unmarked condition. The dash, instruments, switches, and remaining interior details are beautifully preserved and detailed. The wheels are excellent, as are the glass, emblems, and lighting. Both the engine bay and the frontal storage area are unchanged from original, and in beautiful condition, representative of a well maintained ultra low mileage example. All factory components, fittings, hoses, and proper wires are in place and thoughtfully detailed. While the car is certainly in a value range where it can be enjoyed without concerns parking or on long range drives, it is nice enough to invite the occasional concours showing.

The car runs and drives as it should, with enjoyable performance and handling in every respect. Indeed with the top down and open roads ahead, there is little more that can surpass the mid-engine multi-cam V8 sounds and delightful manual shifting of a performance Ferrari. The car comes with manuals, records of major service (although technically currently due for a service based on time), tools, jack, and a copy of the original window sticker.

This is a great opportunity to acquire a usable, practical, and impeccably preserved convertible “Family Ferrari”. The last and best developed of Ferrari’s singular four-passenger mid-engined convertible, this particular example is ready to drive or show without hesitation.

Under ytspänningen växte dock.
