When you sit down, the thin/grippy steering wheel, floor shift, and machine-turned panel flowing across the dash give you a great vintage sporty feeling. And because they paid attention to details, even the little things are working, like the clock, courtesy light, and town & country AM radio.
The larger D-code "Thunderbird Special" 312 cubic-inch V8 with four-barrel carburetor was a nice option in '57. This one was ordered with the larger motor, and it's still believed to carry that displacement today. Plus, it looks thoroughly correct with the bright red block, pie dish air topper w/factory decal, and iconic Thunderbird logo valve covers from the factory dress-up kit. It's a true personal luxury vehicle, so the torque of the V8 is well paired with the Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes for an easy cruiser.
