Allmän beskrivning : A Beautiful MGTD. The spare tire looks like it was there since 1953. It is not a perfect MGTD but it is a perfect driver. Ready to drive anywhere. It is titled 1952 but the serial number suggests it was built July of 1953. Almost the end of the TD production. The engine number matches the build plate. As far as I know it was bought new in the Philadelphia Pa. area. We are the fourth owners. It was restored by the second owner maybe 30 years ago. Since the restoration the car was used very little and always garaged. Mostly in a climate control area. The third owner mostly just drove the MG. He did do some maintenance to the car. He replaced the fuel pump, ignition coil, distributor and spark plug wires.We are the fourth owners and we did a lot of mechanical maintenance to the MG. Our maintenance includes, Removing the MG four speed transmission and replacing it with the European Ford five speed conversion. The conversion included a rebuilt European Ford five speed transmission, new bell housing, new clutch disc and new drive shaft. The five speed is a huge upgrade. All the original parts go with the car. The engine was completely rebuilt, including new piston rings, new rod bearings, new main bearings, resurfacing of the block, all new gaskets, the rear cylinder had to be sleeved , modern spin on oil filter, cooked out the block and replaced the expansion with new ones. We installed new motor mounts. The cylinder head was resurfaced, intake and exhaust valve guides were replaced and the valves were reseated. The carburetors were rebuilt, new bushings were installed for the throttle spindles, mixture was readjusted and they were synchronized. The radiator was cooked out and pressure tested, a new water pump was installed, a new fan belt, all new hoses, and a modern stainless steel thermostat housing with a modern thermostat were installed. A new master cylinder was installed, new wheel cylinders and new rear brakes shoes were installed. New rear axle shaft seals were installed and new bushings were installed in the rear shock absorber links. WE also installed new radial tires.
