Ordered new in 1965 by Mme la Comtesse Lucrece de Stephanos, this superb and rare Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III Cabriolet Mulliner “Chinese Eyes” was sold by the “Garage de l’Athenee” in Geneva (Switzerland). Amazingly, all the correspondence between Rolls-Royce and Comtesse de Stephanos is included with the impressive history file for this car. Among the options fitted was factory fitted air conditioning system (Frigiking), at the request of the Comtesse. In the file is even a complaint letter that the car was delivered to her without an ashtray!
Mme la Comtesse was so proud and fond of her Rolls-Royce that she kept it until 1987, when a Mr Douglas Bell of St. Albans (UK). The mileage was 42,886 kms. The car now in the UK, Mr Bell decided to have fitted a new milometer in miles to replace the original Kilometres one.
In late 1989, Mr and Mrs Smith, residing both in London and Los Angeles acquired the Rolls-Royce, as one of their London cars. They commissioned a full restoration, spending over £125,000, which was a considerable amount in 1989.
In 1995, at 23,000 miles, they decided to sell the car. Mr. PJ Fisher, a prominent Rolls-Royce and Bentley specialist, managed the sale and the car was completely recomissioned during this period, assuring the new owner, a Mr. Steinemann from Switzerland was completely satisfied with his new purchase.
During his ownership, Mr Steinemann, a keen Rolls-Royce and Bentley collector, enjoyed participating in many classic rallies with his beautiful car.
Then in 2010, Mr Stinner, also from Switzerland bought the car and had it registered with the FSVA (Federation Suisse des Vehicules Anciens), a division of the FIVA. In 2011, he entered the car in to one of the most prestigious Concours D’Elegance in the world, the Villa D’Estee, where the car certainly made an impact.
Now, with only 5 owners and 64,000miles from new, this is the rare opportunity to acquire one of the most beautiful Rolls-Royce ever made, with only 20 examples ever made in LHD. The last of the really hand build Rolls-Royce.
