Austin Healey Bug Eye Sprite Series 1 with a non-original 1275 Sprite engine from a later model. 200 miles since restoration. Indiana adds another number for a restored car and will not change it back to original number. Everything is either new or restored. Body is all metal and the only mod. is the hood is now front-hinged for much better access to the engine. Gold and clear coat is in every nook-door jambs, under wheel wells, under hood and fenders. Very nice paint job. Remember the old water faucet heater valve? This car has a regular heater valve that is operated from the cockpit. Steel wheels, new tires, with new bearings all around. Front wheel bearings are Moss tapered roller type instead of the original ball bearings. All new drum brakes, shoes, cylinders,drums. New black interior with new Moss woodrim steering wheel. All accessories work. Polished but used side-curtains. New vinyl top with clear window. New seat belts. I am a private owner, not a dealer. Priced below market value. About Austin-Healey
Austin-Healey was a British sports car make created as a joint-venture between the Austin division of the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and the Donald Healey Motor Company. First Healey model, Healey 100, was based on Austin A90 Atlantic mechanicals and developed by Donald Healey to be build in-house. They finished a single Healey Hundred for the 1952 London Motor Show. Leonard Lord, managing director of Austin was so impressed by the design that a deal was duly struck with Healey and the car was renamed the Austin-Healey 100 overnight. Austin Healey was born. 100 derived into 100-six, and different 3000 versions before they quit the production in 1968 as the basic design had finally become obsolete.
