Ford Anglia 350 V8 1948

General description : 1948 Ford Anglia Gasser With the huge popularity of the Ford automobile in the 30's the Ford Motor Company started producing vehicles in Britain specifically for the European market.  One of the biggest hits was the Anglia and due to its large success in other countries Ford actually started importing these European built American cars back to the states.  They were sold at certain dealerships across the country and even in Canada.  We have listed quite a few of these Anglias over the years and they always prove the be popular.  They have a great look and are often the base for some of the coolest customs and drag cars on the road. This '48 Anglia is no different and completed in a very cool gasser style.  The car is all original steel except for the rear fenders which are fiberglass.  It also has all new floors and is solid throughout.  Despite having the gasser look don't worry, the car is full street legal and primarily used as a show car.  The body sits on a custom 2x4 boxed chassis that is painted Black.  The body is painted in Flat Black with some custom old school White racing style graphics.  Keeping with the gasser look it has a Lexan front windshield with the other windows being an Orange plexiglass which slide open on the doors.  Up front the car has the 2 hole grill, headlights/turn signals and chrome nerf bars.  In back is a custom built bumper and a custom steel trunk lid.  The car has the ultimate gasser stance and rides on drag style 15 inch ET wheels up front and wide 15 inch wheels in back with P295/50R15 tires. Propelling this awesome machine down the road is a fresh crate 350 that only has 10 miles on it since installed.  It sits under a forward tilt hood and looks great with nice chrome accents and a cleanly painted firewall. It is fitted with chrome Edelbrock valve covers, an Edelbrock Performer Intake, Edelbrock 4 barrel carb and a Magneto distributor.  Keeping it cool is a Luxerad racing radiator with electric fan.  The transmission is a 2 speed powerglide with a manual shift valve body.  That sends power back to the narrowed 9 inch posi rear end with 3:50 Moddier gears and Mark Williams 31 spline axles.  The sound of this Anglia doesn't disappoint as it has a fully custom exhaust system that exits out of the side.  Under the front of the car is a straight axle with parallel leaf springs and in back is adjustable coil overs and ladder bars.  The front brakes have also been converted to disc.    On the inside sits dual high back bucket racing seats with Tanaka 4 point seat belts.  Additional items keeping you safe inside the car is a 6 point roll cage, a fire extinguisher, as well as reinforced aluminum composite door panels, floors and firewall.  In front of the driver sits a custom made dash panel to house all of the gauges as well as toggle switches for all the controls.  It has a nice look and was very well made.  Other nice features include the quick release steering wheel and B&M shifter mounted to the floor.  In the trunk area is where the battery was relocated and also where you would access the chrome fuel cell.  This is an extremely cool Anglia that has a lot to offer.  Not only is it unique but it has a great look and performs really well.  It has had a ton of work put into it and is a bargain at our asking price.  This car has been SOLD! About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
