Ford Coupe New 350 V8 1949

General description : 1949 Ford Coupe The 49 Ford was an iconic car for many reason.  First it was the first year for the "Shoebox" design ushering in an era of cars with integrated fenders and flat sides for a more aerodynamic look.  Greater than that though this was the first brand new car design released by any of the Big Three since production was suspended due to WWII.  From 46-48 manufacturers made updates to their pre-war cars but no new models.  Ford won the race for the new design and many credit the 49 as saving Ford.  This cool coupe has a very neat look and has been very well built.  The car has had a lot of little things done to it throughout the years with the most recent being a brand new motor in December 2017.  The body is in good condition, very straight and all rust free.  The Red paint looks great on the car and has a very nice shine.  It sits on a late 70's Monte Carlo chassis which works perfectly with the car.  The chrome front/rear bumpers along with the bumper guards and grill were all replaced in February 2017.  In 2014 it received NOS hood hinges, LED taillights, new windshield glass with seals, and new wipers.  The fact that we can give you specific months/years for each component being replaced says a lot about how well this owner has cared for the car.  You will note in our pictures the vehicle has new Black powder coated wheels but since it was photographed the car has been slightly lowered and got a brand new set of salt flat style Rocket Igniter wheels which look really good on the car.  It comes with both sets and the new wheels have a brand new set of tires (195-60R15, 225-70R15).  The new crate 350 HP motor from Jegs was installed in December 2017 by well known local builder Tommys Rod Shop.  At that time the motor was fitted with all new pulleys, new fan belts, all new hoses, new intake manifold, new plug wires, new fuel pump, new water pump, new power steering pump, new starter, new brackets, a new polished A/C compressor, ceramic coated headers, and a new flex plate.  You may notice we didn't mention the alternator well that's because it was replaced with a new 100 amp alternator in September 2015 which was still in great shape.  The battery was replaced in January 2017 and the motor mounts in May 2014.  This year (2018) the car received new polished out Champion 3 core aluminum radiator, Tuff Stuff mini gear reduction starter, a new brake master cylinder, a MSD 8360 pro billet ready to run distributor and a MSD 8202 blaster coil.  Again, the ability to tell you when specifically each of these components were replaced isn't something we can do with every car we put up for sale.  Luckily the owner recorded all of this down.  The motor runs very well and is sure to last you a long time.  It starts up reliably and has plenty of power.  It is combined with a TH350 automatic transmission and 10 bolt GM rear end.  The front and rear shocks were replaced in May 2014 and still provide a smooth ride.  In March 2014 the brakes were worked on with new discs in front, it still has drums in rear.  Other new parts include the 14 gallon fuel tank which was added 1 month after the brakes in April 2014.  This car runs down the road well and the power brakes and power steering make it a comfortable car to drive.    The interior of the car uses the perfect combination of vintage originality with modern comforts for a look that really turned out well.  The dash is painted in a two tone Beige and Tan which is the color combo used throughout the inside.  It has the original layout and all of the original style components like the gauge, knobs, etc are there.  It meets up with the center console which was nicely integrated between the front bucket seats.  The console house the power window controls and Vintage AC/Heat unit.  In front of the driver sits a tilt column topped with an aftermarket leather wrapped steering wheel.  The seats and door panels utilize leather with cloth inserts that create a nice contrast.  A new custom Auto Sound USA 740 stereo with bluetooth, USB charging and handsfree capabilities.  They also feature aftermarket seat belts with shoulder straps for the front seats.  The trunk is nicely upholstered as well and houses the battery and spare.  This is a nicely update classic that has a great exterior look and reliable drive train.  Whoever makes this purchase will have many years of enjoying this car down the road.  It isn't often you can get a classic look with modern reliability for our asking price, especially in a popular model like the shoebox Ford.  This car could be yours for the reduced price of only $28,500.00 $24,500.00!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
