Ford Custom Flathead V8 1950

General description : 1950 Ford Convertible Ford drastically changed up the look of their vehicles in 1949 and the redesign was declared the Shoebox.  This flat sided design welcomed in the 50s and is a definite turning point in car design as fenders were now fusing more into the bodies and the box look was becoming more popular.  This 50 Ford Custom Convertible is a well done classic that has a really sharp looking exterior.  The car was restored a few years ago and has been well cared for since.  The light Green paint has a nice shine and all of the original style chrome/stainless trim is there.  This car features a unique continental kit which looks good on the car and is something you don't see often on these Fords.  The rear skirts fit nicely in place and look great on the car.  Dual spotlights complete the 50s look and sit on each side of the front windshield.  The wheels have been painted to match the body and look great with the original style hubcaps and wide white wall tires.  Under the hood is a nicely running Flathead V8 that starts up smoothly and has plenty of power.  A lot of the engine components have been painted Red or Black.  Backing the motor is a 3 speed manual transmission the moves through the gears smoothly via the column shifter.  The suspension and brakes have no problems and the car drives around very well.  Whether you are looking for an occasional show car or a cool driver to get you to work this classic is up for the job.   The interior is very cleanly done in Black leather and the front split bench seat is comfortable.  The dash has the original layout with all of the factory style knobs, switches, gauges and trim pieces.  The original heat/defrost system works as does the radio.  The original steering wheel look great and even has the original horn button still in place.  The trunk of the car is nicely upholstered as well and house a spare with matching spare cover.  The convertible top is done in Black and in good condition.  The Black boot snaps easily in place to keep it protected and stored out of the way when not in use. This is one fun classic that is ready for a new home so come check it out while it is still available! SOLD-PLEASE CHECK OUT OUR OTHER CARS!!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
