Mot Xotica Classic Cars is pleased to offer this 1950 Ford Custom Convertible. This Sh box Ford is customized with a clean but very attractive style, equipped with spinner caps and red wheels that match the interior, chrome side pipes and dual spotlights, and many other period correct goodies!This example left Fords Chester, Pennsylvania assembly plant on September 27, 1950 and it received minor trim updates a hidden fuel filler door, tighter body tolerances, better factory procedures and the first usage of Fords new Keystone identification shield.Dressed in its original color, Raven Black, the paint and trim are in overall very good condition. The cars windows are in very good order, as are the lights. The windows and lights are clear and intact. The car rolls on wide whitewall tires surrounding wheels topped with a set of four-bar Dodge Lancer spinner wheel covers, which look fantastic. The cars white top has a proper fit when raised while when lowered, it rests beneath a custom-stitched boot cover. This unit has certain period-style accessories that enhance its appearance functional dual spotlights, original full rocker moldings with front-fender gravel guards, a pair of chrome lake pipes with removable caps, Ford-scripted exhaust tips, back-up lights, door handle and fuel filler scratch guards.This cars body panels are straight and solid, including the contrasting white collapsible roof. The engine bay is very tidy, with the 239 CID V-8 motor painted red and white. It appears stock at first glance, but look closer and youll see it sports a pair of highly desirable, Canadian, Ford-built, heavy-duty 8RT cylinder heads. These were typically found on commercial vehicles at that time. The engine has chrome coolant-return pipes and a pair of Fenton period-correct exhaust manifolds. The cars electrical system has been upgraded to 12 volts from six and uses an alternator for better reliability. The Flathead is mated to a three-speed manual transmission and a 3.73 rear end.The boot cover for the convertible top nicely matches the cars white pleated interior. The white seats are in near-excellent condition, with the black carpet in very good order. The interior trim is chrome-plated and the dashboard has been professionally painted bright red, with its original instruments and looks fantastic. Additionally, there is an aftermarket coolant gauge mounted under the instrument panel. The two-spoke, black steering wheel looks great, as do the inner door panels and mirror glass. Rounding out the interior is a factory AM radio. As a final touch of whimsy, the door lock plungers are topped with black 8 billiard balls.Competition to this Ford in 1950 included Buicks Series 50 Super Convertible, Chevrolets Styleline Deluxe Convertible, Hudsons Pacemaker Deluxe Convertible, the Kurtis Roadster, Mercurys Convertible and Oldsmobiles Futuramic 76 Convertible Coupe.When the previous owner acquired this vehicle, its previous owner told him, This is one car you have a hard time not falling in love with. About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
