Ford Mustang 1968

General description : 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback restomod for sale in our Tampa Showroom. What is a restomod? It is a restored and modified car that brings together the looks of the classic car you love, while giving modern performance and creature comforts. So, how does one achieve this? How about taking a 68 Mustang Fastback and dropping 427 cubic inches of raw steel and sex appeal under the hood for starters? A 351 Windsor has been bored and stroked to 427 cubic inches with AFR aluminum heads, Edelbrock intake, 4 barrel carburetor with electric choke, Northern aluminum radiator, Shelby valve covers and air cleaner, MSD 6AL ignition box, MSD coil, and MSD billet distributor add up to a documented 611 rear wheel horsepower! This is all backed up by a TKO 600 five speed manual transmission with performance bell housing and clutch, running to a Heidts IRS rear end with inboard disc brakes, adjustable coil overs and 3.55:1 gears. The front end is a Global West unit with adjustable coil over shocks, drilled and slotted disc brakes, and all the bracing you can buy to stiffen up the front end! All of this power is put to the ground through Shelby wheels with knock offs wrapped in BF Goodrich G-Force T/A tires including a fifth full size spare in the trunk. This fastback is made into a Shelby GT500 tribute with the correct hood, quarter scoops, side scoops, trunk lid, quarter extensions, taillights, and interior pieces. Moving to the interior, you are greeted by Shelby door sill plates, contoured bucket seats with the Shelby signature, Shelby signature floormats, Shelby gauges, Carrol Shelby signature on the dash, roll bar with Shelby shoulder belts, Shelby pedals, a Hurst shifter, and the deluxe interior package with the aluminum on the doors, the dash, and the overhead console. A/C, leather seats, seat belts, tilt steering wheel, and a modern AM/FM radio with AUX input makes any trip an enjoyable one in this beauty. The 200 MPH speedometer lets you know what this car is capable of at a glance from the driver’s seat. This Mustang underwent a rotisserie restoration just 68 miles ago and the finishing touch is the underside and the engine compartment all being done in a nice gloss black! The trunk and hood hinges are nice billet pieces that really finish off this beauty nicely. This is a show stopper that is ready for long cruises, winning trophies, and embarrassing Mopar and Chevy muscle cars at stop lights! About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
