Vintage and Prestige are proud to offer this 1937 MG TA Midget For Sale.
Registration: FML 922
Chassis no: TA1202
Mileage shown: 11,400
Launched in 1936 as successor to the PB Midget, the TA Midget was an altogether larger and roomier car. Longer in the wheelbase at 94”, the simple chassis followed established Midget practice with semi-elliptic springing all round, though the use of hydraulic dampers at the front and the adoption of Lockheed hydraulic brakes were new departures.
This charming TA comes to us in truly excellent condition. A Full ground up restoration was undertaken in the 90’s to the highest of the standards. The MG Red Paintwork is still showing a beautiful level of lustre and is virtually un-marked. The bodywork has various badges and features adorning the exterior, these really add to the look of the TA and break up the solid Red.
The interior, like the exterior was fully re-done in the 90’s, it has clearly been regularly treated with hide food, and is now showing a beautiful level of patina, which simply cannot be bought.
The dashboard is one of the finest to look at, there is an almost mesmerizing curve flowing along the top. All the correct period instruments (in working order) complete the look and are appreciated even more when sitting in the cockpit.
On the road the true beauty really comes to light, the engine is strong and smooth and the cruising speed is almost remarkable. This TA benefits from the post-war fitment of a TC engine and gearbox which was completely stripped and rebuilt during the restoration.
The twin-carb 1250cc XPAG unit was superior to that of the TA and was coupled to a single-plate dry clutch and four-speed synchromesh box.
A beautiful and useable classic, in our showroom and ready for viewing.
