Mercedes-Benz 280SL w113 1971

General description : Hilton & Moss are delighted to have this beautiful Mercedes-Benz W113 280SL Pagoda in our showroom. The W113 was first released in 1963 with production running up until 1971, through this time engine sizes ranged from 2.3 up to the biggest and most desirable 2.8 litre variants.
This particular Pagoda is an incredibly rare 280SL Auto ‘California Coupe’. This means originally the vehicle was supplied for the US market with a removal hardtop but no soft-top. Instead, a removable drop-down rear bench seat was fitted in its place. This particular car has since been fitted with a navy soft top, it still retains its bench seat and hardtop.
Delivered new to its first keeper Mr C.H Raymond on the 24th of May 1968 by Daimler Benz North America this Mercedes sold for $7,400. Finished to this day in its original colour MB304 Horizon Blue with a MB245 Blue leather interior this Pagoda looks fantastic with both body and interior presenting very well with a small but charming patina throughout thus making the car very useable.
This 280SL was imported to the UK in 2015 and has been with its current owner a long-term Hilton and Moss customer ever since who has now entrusted us with handling the consignment sale of this very well sorted vehicle. During his ownership the car has been maintained to a fastidious standard with any required service work or maintenance carried out by us. In the time the most notable work includes, rebuilt steering rack, rear brake overhaul and a variety of full health checks and full services. Since arriving in the UK a full Euro front and rear headlamp conversion has been completed giving the vehicle the more desirable and sort after appearance.
The car benefits from a healthy history folder documenting works completed, its import into the UK, MOT certificates and general historic papers including an original owner’s manual and wallet. The also retains its original bill of sale, an incredibly are document and fabulous history. The cars odometer reads 87,000 with the most minimal of mileage covered in the last 2-years. Since import the car has been dry stored.
