Porsche 911 / 964 1993

General description : “what is the special thing about the Porsche Speedster?”
“the special thing about the Porsche Speedster for me is its silhouette and its pureness. The history of the Speedster (356) is very remarkable as well.” – words of the owner fort he ‘Porsche Speedster Legends live forever’ – book.

After 30 years of succes of the Porsche 356 Speedster came finally a successor to this legendary icon, The Porsche Speedster was given a new life, based on the 250hp strong Porsche 911 Type 964 Carrera 2. The 964 Speedster was offered with the ‘RS’ equipment which means: No storage place in the doorpanel and cloth loops as door handles. As well center lock, electric mirrors and lots of other stuff were omitted to reduce weight. A fully finished 964 Speedster taps 1350kg on the scale.

This offered example was ordered and delivered in Germany by Porsche Zentrum Nürnberg in 1993 to a German owner/Porsche enthousiast and was finished in the very unique and remarkable Wimbledon-green (B5V9). HE was so impressed by te 964 Speedster that he even had a second on deliverd, this time finished in Polar Silver. The owner begged in an interview to not ask which one his favorite was, he only could say that he’d like to have a third one delivered in Speed Yellow. Says everything about the 964 Speedster. The (one and only) owner shared a whopping 77.000km’s with this car before it found its way to our showroom.

Under the hood lays a cast-iron and very well running air-cooled-boxer-6-engine that sounds, just like any air cooled Porsche, like music in your ears and from what the numbers are matching with the chassis. This 964 Speedster has 250hp, just like the 964 Carrera 2, but with less weight. It could be said that this true drivers car finds itself between the Carrera 2 and the track-ready 964 Carrera RS, with a timeless design that’s a nod tot he original 356 Speedster and 911 ‘G’ Speedster. So more than one reason to love this car! For us this 964 Speedster is a big win and here’s why:
-First owner
-Unrestored and excellent condition
-Matching numbers
-Matching colors
-Fully filled in maintenance history
-Absolute new condition

About Porsche 911 / 964
The Porsche 964 is the internal designation for the Porsche 911 models produced between 1989 and 1994. It was the successor to the Porsche 3.2 Carrera and was designed to be a more refined and modern version of the classic Porsche 911.

One of the major changes in the 964 was the introduction of an all-wheel-drive system, called the Carrera 4. The 964 was also the first Porsche 911 to feature power steering, anti-lock brakes, and an airbag as standard equipment. In addition, the suspension was updated to provide a smoother ride and better handling.

The 964 was powered by a range of engines, including a 3.3-liter turbocharged flat-six, a 3.6-liter naturally aspirated flat-six, and a 3.6-liter turbocharged flat-six. The top-of-the-line 964 Turbo S was capable of producing 385 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, making it one of the fastest production cars of its time.

Today, the Porsche 964 is considered a classic sports car and is highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts. While it may not have the same level of performance as some of the newer Porsche 911 models, the 964 is still a thrilling car to drive and offers a unique driving experience that is difficult to replicate with modern cars.

As a hobbyist car, the Porsche 964 is popular among collectors and enthusiasts who enjoy working on and restoring classic cars. Its relatively simple design and mechanics make it a good choice for those who are interested in learning about automotive restoration and maintenance.

Overall, the Porsche 964 is an important part of Porsche's history and remains a beloved car among automotive enthusiasts around the world. Its unique combination of classic styling, modern features, and high performance capabilities make it a true icon of the Porsche brand.
