Ahead of its time when introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1963, it didn’t take Zuffenhausen long to realise that there was a market for a more performance orientated version of their new flat 6 sports car. By the end of 1966 the 2.0 litre 911S had been launched, the S stood for ‘Super’ featuring a boost in power to 160bhp as well as an anti-roll bar and adjustable Koni dampers. This iconic short-wheelbase 911 also saw the introduction of the now legendary ‘Fuchsfelge’. Deasigned to improve brake cooling (and to reduce unsorung mass) the famous five-leaf Fuchs wheel design would go on to be a staple until 1989. For the 1969 model year, the 911 made the move to mechanical fuel injection replacing the Weber carburettors and with it adding an extra 10bhp.

Finished in Steve McQueen’s favourite colour of ‘Slate Grey’ with Recaro style period seats with hounds tooth check inserts. During the restoration close attention was paid to improving both the road handling and more importantly upgrading the performance. Starting with the suspension, Bilstien dampers and polyurethane suspension bushes were fitted as well as polyurethane engine and gearbox mounts. The engine bore was increased from 2.0 to 2.2 with high compression JE pistons and Mahle cylinders. Big valve heads and sports camshafts, twin Weber carburettors which were fully refurbished and set up to increase the BHP of the engine, the fuel lines were replaced and a fast road fuel pump was fitted. The brakes were also uprated with larger calipers and ventilated discs to aid cooling. A larger brake master cylinder was fitted along with all new brake hoses. Lastly with a state of the art Porsche Bluetooth/ sat-nav system fitted and sitting on the correct period Verstein tyres no expense or small detail has been overlooked.

About Porsche 911 Early LWB
The early Porsche 911 long wheelbase models, also known as the "L" models, were produced from 1968 to 1973. They were named so because of their longer wheelbase, which increased by 2.4 inches from the previous models. The longer wheelbase provided a smoother and more stable ride, and also allowed for more interior space.

The long wheelbase models were powered by air-cooled, flat-six engines, with displacement ranging from 2.0L to 2.4L. They were available in coupe and Targa body styles, and were equipped with a five-speed manual transmission. Notable features of the long wheelbase 911s include their distinctive "ducktail" rear spoiler and Fuchs alloy wheels.

These early 911s are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts, pure as swb cars but easier to drive and handling better.
