Porsche 944 Turbo S 'Silver Rose' Edition M758 code, Sondermod 1988

General description : We have a really special Porsche 944 Turbo S ‘Silver Rose’ Edition, which left the factory on the 14th December 1987 to arrive at Mitsuwa Motor Japan in 1988. This Turbo S comes with the rare M758 option package. This is short for ‘Special Model Turbo S 1988 Pack’ aka Sondernmodell Turbo WW. This Porsche has been fitted with the strongest code M44/52 engine unit producing 250 Hp with an enlarged K26/8, higher pressure, of 1.82 bar, turbo, enlarged exhaust valves, modified gearbox and clutch with an extra cooling unit, limited slip differential, larger brake discs and Brembo ST4 brake claws derived from the Porsche 928 S4, ‘Clubsport’ rims, additional front bumper air vents to provide additional cooling, fully adjustable Koni shock breakers (M030). Other features that distinguish this car are the absence of both a sunroof and catalytic converter. This 944 Turbo S was the fastest production 4-cylinder car around at the time. This one has only clocked up 70,358 km and has retained its original, matching numbers, engine. It also has its Porsche certificate. Naturally it has the original ‘Silver Rose’ finish, it has the windscreen Turbo sticker in place and a “Burgundy Plaid’ interior trim. The fully original interior has been correctly looked after. The 944 is unrestored with good bodywork. The body panels are in good, well-fitted, order as is the paintwork. The original underbody is rust-free. About Porsche 944
While the Porsche 944 shares some similarities with the Porsche 924, it is not accurate to say that the 944 is simply a 924 turned into a real sports car. The Porsche 944 was designed as a successor to the Porsche 924, but it featured significant changes and improvements that set it apart from its predecessor.

One of the most significant changes was the introduction of a new engine. While the Porsche 924 was powered by an Audi-sourced engine, the Porsche 944 featured a Porsche-designed inline-four engine, which was based on the engine from the Porsche 924 Carrera GT. The engine was mounted in the front of the car, but was located further back in the chassis than in the 924, which helped to improve handling and balance.

The Porsche 944 also featured a revised suspension system, with a wider track and a more advanced rear suspension setup than the 924. These changes helped to improve the car's handling and make it more responsive and agile.

Additionally, the Porsche 944 featured a revised body design, with a more aerodynamic shape and a more aggressive look than the 924. The car was also available with a range of performance upgrades, including a turbocharged engine and a range of sport suspension and brake packages.

Overall, while the Porsche 944 may have shared some components with the Porsche 924, it was a significant improvement over its predecessor and is widely regarded as a genuine Porsche sports car in its own right.
