General description :
It all began with the Porsche 924! It had been developed as a successor to the VW-Porsche 914 but VW withdrew before production even began. So Porsche had the 924 manufactured in Audi's former NSU factory in Neckarsulm (Germany). The local market in Germany wasn't all too excited about the car. A "real“ Porsche was supposed to be like a 911. But the sports car was exported quite successfully. Ongoing development led to the 968. It replaced in September 1991 the 924/944. Consequently, the production of the sports car was relocated to the parent plant in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen (Germany). Now it counted as a “real” Porsche”.Our classic Porsche was released on 9/8/1994 to Dr. Ing. H.C.F. Porsche AG as a press test car and was later driven by a brother of the Chairman of the board. Today the 968 Convertible is with its 5th owner and has driven approx. 95,000 kilometers. There is documentation for a major service overhaul including a change of timing belts. The Porsche 968 Convertible with is powerful 3-liter engine is a sought after model. Today yet prices are still attractive!

The Porsche 968 was the final evolution of the Porsche 944, and it was produced from 1992 to 1995. Some critics have argued that the 968 was "too little, too late" in terms of Porsche's efforts to compete with other sports cars of the era.
One of the main criticisms of the Porsche 968 was its high price tag, which made it less competitive against other sports cars such as the Mazda RX-7, Nissan 300ZX, and Chevrolet Corvette. Additionally, the 968 was introduced at a time when the sports car market was declining, due to economic recession and changing consumer preferences.
Despite these challenges, the Porsche 968 was well-received by critics and enthusiasts, who praised its performance, handling, and build quality. The 968 featured a range of advanced technologies, such as a VarioCam variable valve timing system and a 6-speed manual transmission.
