Allgemeine Beschreibung : The Alfa Romeo Giulia was introduced in 1962 as a direct replacement for the immensely popular Giulietta. Displacement of the iconic twin-cam four engine increased from 1.3 to 1.6 litres, continuing the 'small car, big performance' philosophy and improved power from 80 to 92bhp.The stunning bodywork was designed once more by legendary coachbuilder Pininfarina with the Giulia easily distinguished by its bonnet air scoop, necessary to clear the larger engine's block. A five-speed gearbox was fitted to the Giulia as standard, whilst the larger engine ran smoother and was more usable than its predecessor.The LHD example we are offering for sale was produced in 1963 and first delivered on November 20th to Las Palmas, Spain. The car maintains an extensive history file with a large number of invoices and photographs, as well as an official Certificate of Origin from Alfa Romeo, confirming delivery date and destination. The last owner bought the car in 2011 as a restoration project and has lovingly cared for it since then, with over £60,000 spent on various works from 2012 until present with Alfa Romeo specialists, Classic Alfa. The whole project was overseen by an ex Alfa-Romeo technician who fitted the parts at the client's workshop.The history file documents all the work carried out on the car with a vast number of invoices detailing all the Alfa Romeo parts as supplied by Classic Alfa. Included in these works was a full respray to Avorio, interior retrim in Rosso leather, and a significant mechanical overhaul to the engine and running gear. The car also maintains its original hardtop roof, painted body colour. The Giulia Spider is certainly one of the most attractive Alfa Romeos ever produced and remains highly regarded to this day. The Giulia was famously described by Cars Illustrated as 'one of the most delightful small sports cars which will ever be produced'. This example would be a great addition to any classic car collection and the perfect car for a summer's evening open-top cruise!
