Er prijkt dan wel een Fiat logo op deze schitterende sportcoupe, het bestaan van de auto dankt deze aan Ferrari. In meerdere opzichten zelfs. In 1965 besloot de FIA dat er minimaal 500 productieauto's binnen een jaar gebouwd moesten zijn voorzien van de motor waarmee in de Formule 2 vanaf 1967 geracet zou gaan worden. Ferrari had grote moeite met dergelijke productieaantallen en wende zich in eerste instantie tot Fiat. Een door Bertone getekende coupe werd in 1967 op de Autoshow van Geneve gepresenteerd, voorzien van een door ingenieur Aurelio Lampredi voor straatgebruik aangepaste versie van de V6 die gehomologeerd moest worden voor de F2. In 1969 werd de motorinhoud vergroot naar 2400cc, het motorvermogen en vooral ook het koppel namen hierdoor belangrijk toe. Het was ook het moment dat de productie van de coupe verplaatst werd naar de fabriekshallen in Maranello, bij Ferrari dus. Zo is het dus niet onterecht om deze fraaie sportcoupe een alsnog (geadopteerd) Ferrari model te noemen, temeer de auto vernoemd was naar de overleden zoon van Enzo Ferrari. Uit onvrede over de bouwkwaliteit van de 2ltr. modellen door Fiat had Enzo de productie naar zich toe getrokken, cirkel rond.Het hier aangeboden exemplaar is zo'n Ferrari Dino waar misschien wel enigszins misplaatst een Fiat logo op prijkt. De verplaatsing van de productie moest ook de financiële redding van het project zeker stellen, de Dino Coupe was dermate kostbaar dat de verkoop ver bij de verwachtingen achter bleef. Zo kocht men voor de prijs van een Fiat Dino twee Jaguar E-types. In 1973 werd de productie na tegenvallende verkoopresultaten gestaakt, slechts 2398 exemplaren van de 2.4ltr. coupe verder. Niet leuk voor Fiat en Ferrari, prima voor de actuele waardeontwikkeling. Dat Fiat logo op de motorkap en grill bleek dus toch niet zo'n goed idee. Anno nu biedt dat nu juist een kans; immers exact dezelfde motor treft men in een Dino 246 van Ferrari die al snel een investering van enkele tonnen vergt. Een sportwagen gebouwd bij Ferrari, een schitterend Bertone design met aansprekende prestaties voorzien van een gietijzeren betrouwbare Ferrari motor, Duitse ZF versnellingsbak en onafhankelijke achterwielophanging voor nog geen 50k in dit geval. Dat is nog eens return-on-investment te noemen.Deze Dino Coupe troffen wij in een collectie van een Romeinse advocaat. Keihard, origineel en vooral roestvrij. Zie ook de foto's van het spectaculair fraaie, en nog geheel originele, interieur. Schitterend toch? In de collectie van de advocaat werd de auto zeer weinig gebruikt, bij binnenkomst hebben wij de techniek eerst volledig doorlopen en de auto goed rijdend gemaakt. De op diverse plaatsen van gebruikssporen voorziene carrosserie hebben we gelaten zoals ze is. Die is immers altijd roestvrij gebleven en nog steeds strak en keihard. Gewoon zo laten en de auto gebruiken waarvoor ze is, geweldig rijden. In dit prijssegment koopt u slechts 'te restaureren' auto's, vaak met roest. Deze Dino is rijklaar én origineel, aantrekkelijk geprijsd voor wie haar op waarde weet te schatten. Today, that offers an opportunity; after all, exactly the same engine can be found in a Dino 246 from Ferrari, which quickly requires an investment of several tons. A sports car built at Ferrari, a beautiful Bertone design with appealing performance with a cast iron reliable Ferrari engine, German ZF gearbox and independent rear suspension for less than 50k in this case. That can be called return-on-investment. We found this Dino Coupe in a collection of a Roman lawyer. Rock hard, original and above all stainless. See also the photos of the spectacularly beautiful, and still completely original, interior. Splendid isn't it? The car was used very little in the lawyer's collection, on arrival we first went through the technology completely and made the car drive well. We have left the bodywork with signs of use in various places as it is. After all, it has always remained rust-free and still tight and rock-solid. Just leave it as it is and use the car for what it is, great drive. In this price segment you only buy 'to restore' cars, often with rust. This Dino is roadworthy and original, attractively priced for those who appreciate it.
