Originally commissioned for the London High Commissioner for Nigeria. This Phantom V is in superb condition having been the recipient of massive service expenditure to keep in the condition we find it today. Its colours are identical the Queens Phantom VI in the Royal mews.
The classic Mason’s Black & Royal Garnet paintwork is laid down over straight alloy panels with excellent alignment and fit. Getting such a large car to appear so straight in a two tone paint scheme is no easy task and is a testament to the quality and care given to the car over the years. A single coach line in gold accents the paintwork.
Chrome adornment is limited to bumpers, light trims, a subtle waist strip and of course, the prominent Rolls Royce radiator shell. A radiator-mounted flag holder hints at this car’s period diplomatic duties. All of the brightwork is presented in very good order, with deep, clear reflections and no corrosion. Our service manager remembers the car coming into Jack Barclays for service work back in the day when it covered very very few miles ferrying diplomats round the London circuit. After that it went to a private collection where again it was sparsely used.
The interior is wonderfully presented, with a black driver’s compartment contrasting a cream beige passenger compartment, separated by a power divider that glides up & down at the touch of a button. The chauffeur’s compartment is beautifully trimmed, in its original black leather with no evident wear. The Black Wilton carpets are in excellent order covered with black deep pile lambs wool rugs and the gorgeous woodwork provides a visual lift to the businesslike driver’s office. An under-dash A/C unit keeps the driver and front passenger comfortable, while all original instruments and switchgear present in excellent order.
The rear compartment is a drastic contrast to the front, with a light and airy feeling courtesy of the cream beige Connolly hides, light Wilton rugs, and plenty of glass. Integrated into the divider is a beautifully finished wood bar, an originally-fitted option which includes a pair of crystal decanters. Flanking the bar is a pair of jump seats trimmed in leather and vents for the rear-mounted air conditioning system. Door cards are in excellent order, with beautiful banded-wood caps surrounding the cabin. Rear passengers are whisked along in opulence, with gorgeous cream leather seats, individual cigarette lighters, carpeted foot rests and a separate set of controls for the rear air conditioning system.
The engine bay presents beautifully with a few modern upgrades for the sake of reliable operation. Correct finishes adorn the rocker covers, ancillaries and firewall. The car is an outstanding driver, with its previous owner using the car sparingly for shows and events. It rides on a set of Michelin X radial tires, a widely accepted modern alternative to the original crossply tires, well suited to the performance characteristics of this large limousine. Indicated mileage is 34,000. This we believe to be correct given the total absence of wear to the brake & throttle pedals & drivers seat. Adittionally the car drives in a smooth tight taut manner. Given its limited diplomatic use & years spent in a collection the indicated mileage almost cetainly is correct.
We have performed a full service upon this Rolls Royce Phantom V when it arrived. The car is also UK registered with a UK V5 Document. To sum up this is a car in impeccable order with the benefit of an aftermarket air-conditioning system to keep the occupants cool. It exudes gravitas in large measures & makes a real statement upon its imperious arrival. Being a 7 seat vehicle it lends itself well to events such as Henly & Ascot but is equally at home as a London limousine similar to the last one we sold.

Nåväl, damer och herrar, idag dyker vi in i den lysande historien om ett varumärke som alltid har inneburit själva essensen av brittisk lyx och hantverk - Rolls-Royce.Vår historia börjar vid förra sekelskiftet när två visionärer, Charles Rolls och Henry Royce, beslutade att gå samman. År 1904 föddes den allra första Rolls-Royce, Rolls-Royce 10 hp. Det var en blygsam början för ett företag som skulle omdefiniera bilens överlägsenhet.
Men det var inte förrän 1907 som Rolls-Royce verkligen gjorde sin stämpel med introduktionen av Silver Ghost. Den hyllades som "Världens bästa bil" och satte gulstandard för lyxkörning. Med sin tystlåtna motor och utsökta hantverk var det en symbol för överflöd och förfining.
1920-talet förde oss Rolls-Royce Phantom I, en ikon för sin tid. Det var den första Rolls-Royce med en 6-cylindrig motor och lade grunden för den legendariska Phantom-serien. Detta var eran när Maharadjor i Indien beställde specialbyggda Rolls-Royces som var inget mindre än bilpalats.
Snabbspola till efterkrigsåren, och vi har Silver Cloud, en symbol för det brittiska efterkrigsoptimismen. Silver Cloud var elegans personifierad, med sina flytande linjer och handgjorda interiörer. Det var valet för kungligheter, kändisar och kaptenar inom industrin.
Men om vi pratar om Rolls-Royces lyx i sin fulländning, är det Rolls-Royce Phantom VI som graciöst dök upp i våra liv från 1968 till 1991. Det här var en bil som gjorde uttalandet att "om du måste fråga priset kan du inte ha råd det." Anpassning var nyckelordet, och Phantom VI var en canvas för världens rikaste för att uttrycka sina unika smaker.
Nu är det omöjligt att diskutera Rolls-Royce utan att nämna Rolls-Royce Corniche. Producerad från 1971 till 1995 var det en cabriolet- och coupéversion av Silver Shadow. Corniche var den ultimata grand tourern, en bil för dem som ville färdas över kontinenter i absolut lyx.
Men, ack, även de mäktigaste måste möta sin nedgång, och Rolls-Royce var inget undantag. Företaget genomgick ekonomiska prövningar på 1970- och 80-talen, vilket ledde till övertagandet av Vickers plc. Sedan kom den kontroversiella ägandeperioden av BMW och Volkswagen, som delade entusiasterna.
Rolls-Royce återfick fotfästet under BMW-ägande, och det nya millenniet förde oss Rolls-Royce Phantom VII, en återgång till företagets rötter av kompromisslös lyx. Phantom VII var ett vittnesmål om brittisk ingenjörskonst och hantverk.
Och det, damer och herrar, för oss till idag. Rolls-Royce fortsätter att producera några av de mest overdådiga, specialtillverkade fordon på planeten, en symbol för brittisk imperium som inte har falnat med tiden. Anden av Sir Henry Royce och Charles Rolls lever vidare i varje bil som bär Spirit of Ecstasy, ett vittnesmål om det bestående arvet av brittisk bilöverlägsenhet.
