Der BMW 3200 CS, auch "Bertone" genannt, wurde auf der IAA im September 1961 präsentiert und von Februar 1962 bis September 1965 bei BMW in München montiert. Auch der 3200 CS basierte auf dem Chassis der Typen BMW 501/502, sein Aufbau war von Bertone in Turin entworfen worden und wurde in Italien produziert. Beim 160 PS-Motor handelte es sich um das Triebwerk des 3,2 Liter Super - damit waren 200 km/h möglich.
Die Qualität des sehr diskret wirkenden Fahrzeugs war nie Gegenstand von Kritik. Mit Fahrgestellnummer 76176 wurde eine Modellpflege durchgeführt. Statt des Blecharmaturenträgers kam eine hölzerne Ausführung, die Lederpolsterung gehörte nun zum Lieferumfang, zudem hatte das Auto nun ein direkt am Motor angeflanschtes Getriebe, das nicht mehr den Innenraum beengte.
Neben dem kaum wirklich populären Coupe entstand als Einzelstück ein Cabriolet für BMW-Hauptaktionär Herbert Quant, von einem Serienmodell wurde aber Abstand genommen. Bis 1965 wurden 603 Einheiten vom BMW 3200 CS fertiggestellt. Die Produktion endete, um Fertigungskapazitäten für die neue, viel profitablere Mittelklasse Reihe "Neue Klasse" und anschließend für die ab 1966 für die Nullzwei-Reihe zu schaffen. V-8 Coupes erlebten bei BMW dann erst mit der Achter-Reihe Ende der 80iger Jahre wieder eine Renaissance.
Dieser hier von uns angebotene BMW 3200 CS "Bertone" ist historisch gesehen wohl das interesanteste Fahrzeug. Mit der Fahrgestellnummer 76592 ist er einer der allerletzt gebauten Exemplare, er bekam als einziges Fahrzeug (außer dem Quant-Cabrio) ab Werk eine Servolenkung und wurde als Neuwagen auf die BMW-AG zugelassen und von Paul G. Hahnemann (Nieschen Paule) gefahren.
Die komplette Historie mit handgeschriebenem Brief von Paul G. Hahnemann sowie der originale Papp-Brief sind vorhanden.
Der Wagen wurde bis heute von seinem letzten Besitzer fast täglich (bei schönem Wetter) gefahren und befindet sich in einem sehr schönen unrestauriertem fahrtauglichen Zustand, auch die Innenausstattung (Leder Tabakbraun) ist original und wunderschön patiniert.
