Der Ford Crestline, war ein Modell in der oberen Mittelklasse, zwischen 1952-1954 in den Vereinigten Staaten gebaut. Gemeint als der Nachfolger des Ford Custom Deluxe, war die Crestline zunächst nur in Verfügbar mit einer verbesserten Version des V8-Motors von seinem Vorgänger: 3917 cm ³ Hubraum und einer Leistung von 110 PS (81 kW) bei ein Drehmoment von 3.800/min.
Der Crestline war als zweitürige Cabrio und Hardtop-Limousine (Victoria) oder als funftüriger Kombi mit Platz für acht erhältlich. Die Modelle hatten die typische Form des Pontons von den Custom und den unverwechselbaren "Kugel" im Grill, wurden aber auch mit einer gebogenen Windschutzscheibe ohne Pfosten ausgestattet. Das Armaturenbrett war futuristisch.
Im Jahr 1953 unterzog das Crestline einige minimale kosmetische Änderungen und ab 1954 war das Auto auch mit dem neuen Sechszylinder-Reihenmotor mit 3654 ccm, 115 PS (85 kW) bei 3900/min. Der V8-Motor wurde "gestärkt" auf 130 PS (96 kW) bei 4.200/min Drehmoment um den Unterschied zwischen den beiden Motoren zu gewährleisten. Zusätzlich zu den drei bereits bekannten Karosserievarianten, wurde im letzten Jahr der Produktion einem zweiten zweitürige Hardtop-Limousine (der Skyliner) mit Glasdach über den Vordersitzen und eine viertürige Limousine in die Modellpalette aufgenommen.
In den drei Jahren dass der Crestline produziert wurde, verkaufte Ford 540.211 Exemplare. Im Jahr 1955 war der Ford Fairlane der Nachfolger.

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.
In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.
In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
