Ford Crestline 223ci Inline 6 cylinder 1954

General description : 1954 Ford Crestline Victoria When we moved into the 50's there was a clear shift in the design style of automobiles.  They were becoming more square with incorporated fenders ultimately leading to what would be known as the "shoebox" Ford.  When 1952 rolled around, Ford introduced the Crestline model of cars.  They were the top trim level for the time and Ford would continue its use of the Victoria name as it was applied to the 2 door hardtops.  Production only continued until 1954 after which Ford introduced the Fairlane.  Minor cosmetic changes were noted throughout its production and in '54 Ford produced just over 13,000 of these cars.  This '54 Crestline is a great looking car that has been very well maintained throughout its life.  The body is very solid with zero rust throughout.  It is a very clean survivor car that has been kept very original.  The paint is a Cadet blue combined with a Sandstone White type.  The body was redone but the top is the original paint which still looks good.  They are not currently in place but the car does come with a set of matching fender skirts.  All of the chrome and trim on these cars were beautifully laid out and all of those pieces on this car have a very nice shining finish.  The car rides on Blue matching 15 inch wheels topped with its original Ford hubcaps and wrapped in Michelin radial white wall tires.  Turning those tires is the factory original 223 c.i. straight 6 cylinder motor that runs great.  This was the first year this motor was introduced with previous years only using flatheads.  The engine compartment is very clean with a nice Blue firewall and gloss Black inner fenders.  The motor is topped off with the Ford Special oil bath airc leaner and the valve cover is accented by a Ford Inline 6 vintage sign painted style decal which is a nice old school touch.  The transmission is the 2 speed Fordomatic which shifts smoothly.  The car runs well and doesn't smoke.    The interior of the car is in remarkable condition especially when you realize it is 100% original.  It is literally all of the same stuff that was installed when this car rolled off the factory line almost 70 years ago.  It is done in a Blue and White two tone to match the exterior and has a split bench seat up front.  The dash features all of its original stylings, knobs, switches, gauges, etc.  Everything works on the car except for the radio and clock.  They have purposely been left in place because they are original to the car.  The trunk is nicely carpeted and houses the original matching spare wheel.  The car comes with its original owners manual and even the original delivery service policy paper from when it was delivered to Kansas in 1954 which is always neat to show off at car shows. This is a super clean Crestline that is ready to be shown off and appreciated.  Nice quality survivor cars like this are only getting harder to find as time goes on so get it while you still can! About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
