Jaguar E-type 1972

General description : Ever since its very first appearance, the Jaguar E type has been instantly identifiable, all over the world, by its highly distinctive styling. With the appearance of the Series 3 cars and in particular the new V12 engine, it continued to be one of the world’s most desirable cars.

Slightly longer than an earlier car, the V12 had a wider track and uprated suspension improving the road holding and cornering. An additional air scoop under the grille provides additional cooling to the enlarged cooling system. Vented discs at the front and air scoops at the rear improved braking. Power steering was fitted as standard, combined with better mounting to the car and a smaller steering wheel improved the driving experience for modern day traffic conditions.

Our car completed manufacture on 4th March 1972 and was dispatched to New York three weeks later. A matching numbers car, elegantly finished in desirable Light Blue with Navy Blue Hide. Fitted with optional Chrome wire wheels, automatic transmission and original factory fitted AM/FM radio with aerial.  The car also comes complete with tonneau cover, jack, knock off hammer and owner’s manual with supplementary leaflets and books in an original wallet.

Documentation confirms that the 27,800 miles showing is correct, and original transfers in the engine bay and production adhesive residue in the boot area highlight that this is a very original car that has been lovingly cared for. The underside of the car is in excellent order, undoubtedly due to spending most of its life in Texas. Also, the car benefits from a very low ownership (3 owners from new). More recent maintenance from a prominent specialist in Texas includes rebuilt carburettors, a new steering rack, upgraded electronic ignition, acoustic insulation, stainless exhaust system and a Team CJ suspension upgrade.

This E-Type is the perfect balance between classic open top motoring and modern expectations. The V12 is as smooth as you would expect, with effortless performance. The steering is light and accurate and the brakes reassuring. The additional acoustic insulation adds refinement, reducing road noise without detracting from the sonorous engine and exhaust. The upgraded suspension increases the sporting edge of the E-Type without losing the suppleness that independently suspended Jaguars are renowned for.
